September Fog

September Fog, originally uploaded by Della Huff Photography.

I love it when the fog is low enough for the skyline to poke up through it. It's been warm here as we start our real summer in the Bay Area. At the end of a warm day last week, heat radiated up off the Bay, causing the distortion you see in the image (which I like -- SF in the fog is like a mirage!)

Captured from my roof deck in the Berkeley Hills.

Canon 5D Mk II, Canon 100-400L, f/5.6 @ 1/100, ISO 200. No filters.

When the wind is fresh off the sea, and you’re walking in the sunshine with the foghorns already blowing way out there by the gate, you know this is where you want to be. –Herb Caen :)
