Aspens

Aspens, originally uploaded by Della Huff Photography.

This might look like it Colorado, but it was actually taken in the Eastern Sierra this past fall. I repeated the image and stitched it for a hotel client, who will be hanging a 6' print of it in their elevator lobby. I like the resulting subtle repetition in the image. I also pulled out more greens than the original image had, since the client was interested in spring greens and this was taken in October.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!

I recently got a call from Digital Photo Magazine letting me know that I had won first place in their Great Escapes photo contest! It's my first magazine photo contest win, and it really made my day.

Check me out on page 16 of the September/October issue:

I also won some sweet camera gear. Thanks, DP Mag!

Here's a higher-quality version of the winning shot, "Taj Mahal Sunrise Reflections":

The Kind of E-mail That Makes Your Day...

"You recently submitted photos to Digital Photo's 2nd Annual Great Escapes Photo Contest. We're pleased to inform you that two of your entries (attached) are being considered as finalists in this competition."

Yay! Here are the two images up for judging. If you want to support either of them for the People's Choice award, you can vote at the following links:

"Lone Cypress Sunset"

This was one of the best sunsets I've seen on the Central California coast. It looked like a tropical storm!

"Taj Mahal Sunrise Reflections"

This image captures one of my favorite moments witnessed along my journey from Delhi to Bali last summer. The night before I took this, a sandstorm howled in Agra, ruining my chances for a sunrise at the Taj Mahal -- or so I thought. The opposite turned out to be true, and the day dawned crystal clear with an incredible sky full of small, puffy clouds. This image was taken just after sunrise.

Marin Magazine Cover, April 2010

Very excited to have one of my images on the cover of Marin Magazine this coming month!

I shot that image back in December on Bolinas Ridge, near the top of Mt. Tamalpais, as the fog poured over the hillsides.

Nature Conservancy Brochure Cover

I was excited to learn that one of my photos was chosen for the cover of a Nature Conservancy brochure that discusses the impact of climate change. If you're interested in reading the brochure, you can find it here:
